Mary Kathryn (Penn) Morgan was born on May 18th 1936, in Columbus, Ohio, the second child born to Joseph Wilbur and Martha Frances (Estice) Penn. She departed this life on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at Mother Angeline McCrory Manor.
Mary attended the Columbus Public Schools, graduating from North High School, class of 1954.
On January 8, 1955, Mary was united in marriage to Joseph Morgan Jr. They were married for 67 years until his passing in 2021. To this union, five children were born. In 1975, Mary accepted Christ and was baptized at Second Baptist Church by Pastor Leon L. Troy, Sr.
Mary was affectionately known by her family as Mary K, Mom, Mommie, Grams, Grammies, and Aunt Mary. She was a phenomenal woman. She was able to balance her home, work, and volunteer at her children's schools. She worked at the Ohio State University Hospital as an oxygen therapist for over 10 years, at Grant Hospital as a Nurse's aide for more than 10 years and at Second Baptist Church, as head of the janitorial staff for 19 years. Mary volunteered in the PTA and as a classroom aide at Milo Grogan Elementary School. She also helped with the Columbus Laboratory School at Second Baptist Church.
Mary loved art. She loved to color pictures. She was a perfectionist. Anything she did had to be just right, She was a gifted decorator. While working at the church, every occasion or celebration was carefully planned and executed. She took pride in her work. She was a caring person and helped many people along the way. She was a true friend.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, her husband, Joseph Morgan, Jr., youngest daughter Ruth Lynise Morgan, grandson Con rad Jackson, Jr., great-grandson A'meire Jackson.
She leaves to cherish her memory-her children, Joseph (Tonya) Morgan, Ill,
Deborah Morgan, Theresa (Patrick) Peterson and Michael Morgan; siblings,
Rosanna Fields, Sylvia LaMar, Barbara Bivens, Delbert M Penn, Sr. and Ruth
Smith; grandchildren, Tyree, Telithia, Arikka, Christafer Sr., Byron Jr., Chantel, Anjella, Joey, Mark, James, Joshua, Lynise, Spencer and Micah; 15 greatgrandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild, five brothers-in-law, six sisters-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins,and friends.
/ have fought the good fight. I have finished the race. I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which, the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day and not only me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing. IlTimothy 4: 7 & 8
