Milton T. Burris

Milton Thomas Burris a.k.a “Butch” was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 6, 2020.

Butch was born in Columbus, Ohio, on May 26, 1947, to the late Milton Thomas Dyer and the late Maude Estell Burris. He was educated in The Columbus Public School System and continued his education as a electronics technician. Butch later enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Vietnam Nam era receiving an honorable discharge and earning the following commendations: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon; Sharpshooter Badge; and Marksman Badge with Rifle Bar.

Butch later worked for the Coca Cola Company in Columbus, and as an entrepreneur operated a photo and post card business. Butch loved both photography, fishing, and his family. He will be remembered for his swagger and love of a good debate. Butch was a student of the Holy Bible and had accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior. Butch loved biblical discussions regarding bible concepts, and wanted to encourage family members to have a closer walk with the Lord.

Butch was predeceased by his parents; brothers Claude Burris, Kenny Burris and George Garfield Miller, as well as sisters Darlene Lomack, Gloria Hayes, and Gladys Burris. Loving memories will be cherished by brother, Danny Miller (Angela) of Virginia Beach, VA; sisters, Patricia Williams (Ms RNB), and Deborah Miller of Columbus; Christina Moore (Carlos) of Tampa, FL, and Tibitha Todd of California. Butch also leaves special niece, Velvet Burris Sealy (Rev. Alvin Sealy) of Tuscaloosa, AL., and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation 11:00 AM and Funeral Service 12:00 PM Friday, March 13, 2020 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH 2500 Cleveland Ave.

Interment at Eastlawn Cemetery.
