Minster Maxine Berry

Maxine Dobbs Berry was born in Cocoa, Florida, November 29, 1950, to Fred and Pallie Dobbs. She had six brothers and sisters Hazel, Willie Ruth, James Howard, Billie, Ernest, and Steven. She moved to Ohio in 1975. She had five children Gwendolyn, Leroy Jr. Ginger, Sean and Cherish. Maxine was a very loving woman. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, Jerrin, Jevarr, Justin, Irvin, Dwayne, Zarriah, Joshua, Angel Grace, Charisma and Brielle. Grammy, as they would call her loved baking, cooking, and teaching the grandchildren recipes. She was also a great grandmother to Javeon, Jaden, Kayla, Dwayne Jr., Hayes, Kamari, Jaelyn, Parker and Jerison. She enjoyed going to church conferences and church events locally and nationwide. She loved to travel back home to Cocoa, Florida to visit the family and her son in Moultrie, Georgia as much as she could.

She was a giver to others even when she would go without. She would care for others even when she was in pain. People often would talk about the beautiful peaceful spirit she had. She was someone people felt drawn to like a loving mother figure.

Maxine came to know Christ at a young age and was an ordained minister. She was a woman of faith, intercession, and a prayer warrior. She loved God and loved people and lived what she ministered about. Not just in the church building but with her acts towards others to show God’s love through her and with the power of the Holy Spirit.  She was a witness to many and brought them to salvation. She attended theology school, Gospel Lighthouse and Young Preachers Institute. She was a Sunday school teacher, ministered in churches, did missionary work in nursing homes and hospitals and most importantly to her family with her prayers, notes and encouraging words.  She completed classes in early childhood education and was a preschool teacher until 2013.

She is preceded in death by parents, Fred and Pallie Dobbs, children Gwendolyn Dobbs Poole (Kenneth) and Sean Berry, siblings Hazel Phillips, Willie Ruth Berry and Steven Dobbs.

She leaves to honor her memory children, Leroy Berry Jr. (Rainy), Ginger Berry and Cherish Berry, brothers James Howard Dobbs (Shirlene), Billie Dobbs (Ava) and Ernest Dobbs, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
