Mitzie King

January 6, 1940 — December 17, 2024

Mrs. Mitzie King, 84, went to be with her savior Jesus Christ the Lord, on December 17, 2024, with her daughter, sons, granddaughters, and close friend by her side during the last week of her life at OSU Main Hospital 460 W. 10th Ave., Columbus, Ohio.


Mitzie was born January 6, 1940, in Shrevport, Louisiana to Sarah Markray Boston (mother) and James Boston (father). She had 5 siblings: Netty Lee, Betty, Della Mae, Billie Joyce, and James Boston Jr. She was the last surviving sibling for may years.


Mitzie was married to Oliver King at 16 years of age. Her parents granted her permission to be married. Mrs. Mitzie king and Mr. Oliver King had a daughter, Mrs. Elenor King Ratleff who passed many years ago. Also, she had 3 other children: daughter, Chena King, and sons, Eric and Robert King. Mrs. King was a loving and devoted mother.


Mitzie graduated from high school in Shrevport, Louisiana. She moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1965. She loved to travel and was a local singer in Columbus. She performed at bars on Mount Vernon Ave. and Long Street. She worked at Columbus Boys and Girls Club on Cleveland Ave. As a cook and also at the state office tower downtown on West Broad Street as a secretary. During her journey, she survived cancer 3 times.


Mitzie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of 9 in her hometown. She also was a member of Bethany Christian Church on Wilson Ave. in Columbus. She made sure all her children were blessed with Holy water in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, when they were infants. Then later on, she made sure they attended Sunday School and church service to learn about God and his son, Jesus.


Mrs. Mitzie King is survived by her children, Chena King, Eric King, and Robert King; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, an close family friends. Also her extended family, home health medical staff, transportation drivers, Fresenius Dialysis Center on Kenny Road, and the OSU Wexner Medical Staff. She loved each of them with a heart as sweet as honey.
