Mother Daisy Mae Shine

Daisy Mae Shine, 75, died Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at Cleveland Clinic main campus after a short illness. Daisy was born on January 26, 1947 in Dawson, Georgia. She was a Mansfield resident for 60 years and attended Mansfield City Schools where she was a member of the graduating class of 1965. Daisy married Edler Tyree Shine on May 4, 1977.

Mrs. Daisy Shine retired from United Telephone/Sprint where she worked for 25 years. Daisy was a member of Maddox Memorial Temple Church of God and Christ where she served as a church Mother, an evangelist, a missionary, and a youth church leader. Daisy loved spending time with her family, church members, and friends. She also loved to cook and bake for the community. Daisy was most famously known for her amazing chicken salad and pound cakes.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Odessa M. Lambert, grandparents, Hubert and Eula Mae Crawford, and two grandchildren.

Daisy is survived by her husband, Tyree Shine of Mansfield, OH, daughters and sons-in-law Cheryl (Hood) and Gary Walker of New Philadelphia, OH, Cassandra (Hood) and Ken Johnson of Media, OH and son Robert E. Hood Jr. and friend Lydia Gonzales of Saginaw, MI, nine grandchildren; Hillary, Dimitri and Jelani Walker, Ashlee Thompson, Marissa Hood, Keon and Kellon Johnson, Curtis Richardson and Veronica Gonzales and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be held on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at Maddox Memorial C.O.G.I.C. Calling hours will be from 2-3 PM; services immediately following at 3 PM. Repast will be held for family and friends immediately following the service at the Elks Lodge, 499 Park Ave W., Mansfield, OH 44906. The family will be available for an open house on November 16 & 17 from 4-7 PM at the Shine household. Interment will be held for immediate family members only on Monday November 21, 2022 at 10:00am at the Mansfield Cemetery.
