Mr. Babu M Sikare

Babu Sikare, 44, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on February 8th 2023 at his home in New Albany, OH after a long battle with Cancer. His funeral service will be held at Marlan Gary Funeral Home in Columbus, OH on Saturday February 11th starting with viewing from 9am – 11am followed by a short service from 11a – 12pm. His body will be transported to Tanzania for burial.

Babu was born on December 19th 1978 in Dar-es-salaam, Tanzania to Mr. Sylvester Sikare, Ret. Electric Engineer and a Businessman, and the late Mrs. Grace Sikare, a Business Woman. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business and Management from University of Phoenix and Masters Degree in Project Management from Devry University. Babu developed interest in IT after graduate school and so he went back to school for various certifications in IT including Maximo. Babu had a successful career working as a Software Engineer for various companies. His last employer was Accenture where he worked until his death.

Babu was not married, however at the time of his death, he was engaged to his wonderful fiancée Janet Abraham. He did not have any children.

Babu was a philanthropist who cared deeply about Albino issues. In an effort to educate and continue the fight against cancer for people with albinism, he founded Afrobino, an organization that helped many Tanzanians with albinism over the years by providing free sunscreen and education about cancer prevention.

In his spare time, Babu enjoyed music and finer things in life from dressing up to exotic foods. He was a well-known artist in Tanzania with a catalog of music to his credit. He also enjoyed acting where he landed a big role in the movie Baby Powder released in 2010 which added to his popularity. Babu also enjoyed traveling and he had plans to travel the world.

He is survived by his father, Sylvester Sikare, along with two older brothers, Ben and his wife Lissa, Joseph and his wife Ester, and a younger sister Lucy. He has a total of four nephews and one niece that he loved so much. They are: Hans 20, Edna 13, and Eric 8 from his older brother Ben and Nicholas 7, and Justin 4, from his brother Joseph. Babu’s mother, Grace, and eldest brother Robert passed away in 2008 and 2004 respectfully.
