Remembering A Life Well Lived

HENRY THOMAS “H.T.” FLINT, a faithful servant of God, was born Sunday, April 22, 1923, in Columbus, Ohio, and peacefully transitioned to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 29, 2018. He no longer suffers under the afflictions of his later years and now rests in the fullness of God’s grace and in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Greeting him upon his arrival were his parents, Usy and Fannie Mae Flint; children, Gregory T. Flint and Katina Flint Pardon; brothers, Clarence and Sherman Flint; sisters, Gladys Jones and Veada Battle; grandson, DeShaun Pardon; sister-in-law, Laurce Flint; and son-in-law, Robert Pardon.

H.T. was a graduate of the Columbus Public School System. He gave his life to Christ at the age of nine and the steps of his Christian journey were ordered to the Love Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where he served faithfully for 86 years. H.T. was a member of the Trustee Ministry, Music Ministry, Men’s Sunday School Class, and many other church programs and activities.

H.T. served his country in the United States Coast Guard from 1942 to 1946. He continued to give exemplary service as a civilian in numerous capacities, retiring as Deputy Commander of the Defense Depot, Columbus, Ohio. H.T. earned and received many citations and awards during his 50-year tenure:

• Personal Achievement Award, Columbus Area Chapter BIG, 1984
• Citation of Recognition, Mayor Gregory LaShutka, June 1995
• Letter of Commendation, President Bill Clinton, 1995
• Inducted into DCSC Retirees Hall of Fame 1996
• DLA Hall of Fame, 2002
• DCSC Hall of Fame – May 25, 2005

In 1992, H.T. Flint was instrumental in the establishment of the Columbus Metro Federal Credit Union. He was a member of the Board of Directors, where he served as chairman for a number of years. He retired from the Board of Directors in 2018. H.T. also was a member of the St. Mark’s Lodge #7.

H.T. Flint leaves a rich legacy of faith, family, character, and leadership. Those who mourn, yet rejoice in his memory, include his wife of 27 years, Patricia Flint; son, Simmie D. Cotton; sister, Celestine Martin; daughter-in-law, Lisa Flint; grandsons, Gregory Hardiman, Ernest (Erica) McCoy, Kkori Flint, Michael Steele, Kelly (Tawanda) Armstrong, Kevin (Lateca) Armstrong, Gregory Armstrong, Marlon Lanier, and Shaunte Steele; granddaughters, DeVaune Pardon, Bambi Flint, TiArri Flint, Eboni Flint and Simirrah Cotton.

A noble character has departed – – one who has done the real things of life; one who has lived with his neighbor and lived the Golden Rule.The hour of death is appointed. It is written in God’s word, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. HENRY THOMAS FLINT BELONGS TO THE LORD.

Mr. Flint will Lie in State at 5:00pm and Family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Thursday January 3, 2019 at Love Zion Baptist Church 1459 Madison Ave.;

on Friday January 4, 2019 an additional visitation starting at 10:00am followed by 11:00am Home Going Service at Love Zion Baptist Church.
