Mansfield, OH – It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of
Joel Lynn Todd Sr. Joel left this world on November 2, 2023, in Mansfield, OH, at the age of 66.
He was surrounded by the love of his family and friends in the moments leading up to his
departure. 
Born on September 21, 1957, in Mansfield, OH, Joel was the beloved son of his late parents
Janis and Joshua Todd. He was a graduate of Mansfield Senior High School, and that marked
the beginning of a life filled with dedication and joy. 
Joel embarked on a remarkable journey of service to his country, enlisting in the U.S. Army on
September 1, 1976. With great pride, he served as an automobile repairer, dedicating seven
years to the defense and protection of the nation he loved. Joel proudly rose to the rank of Staff
Sergeant before his honorable discharge on April 6, 1984.
Following his military service, Joel pursued a career at General Motors and later found his calling
as a Corrections Records Management Officer in the corrections industry. For many years, he
dedicated his time and expertise to the Richland Correctional Institution, contributing to the safety
and well-being of his community.
In addition to his professional achievements, Joel was a man of faith. He was a member of First
Baptist Church and Maddox Memorial COGIC.
Known by many as "D.J. Worldwide," Joel had a deep passion for music. As a DJ, he brought joy
and excitement to countless celebrations, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those who
were lucky enough to dance to his tunes. His love for cars, especially Mercedes Benz, was
unmatched, mirroring his appreciation for beauty and craftsmanship.
Throughout his life, Joel never stopped learning. He eagerly sought out new knowledge and
experiences, constantly expanding his horizons. His thirst for knowledge inspired those around
him and served as a shining example of the importance of intellectual growth.
Joel was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Keith and James Todd. 
Joel's passing leaves a void in the lives of his children, Crystal Todd, Joel (Shannan) Todd Jr.,
and Janis Todd. He will also be greatly missed by his siblings Laurie Todd, Kevin (Stephanie)
Todd, Linda Todd, Lonnie (Peggy) Williams, Robert Williams, Jerry Williams, and his cherished
grandchildren Alaishya Butler, Dae'Onna Butler, Maurice Bradley Jr., Jastelle Bradley, Ryan
Todd, Jaxson Gordon, and Bryn Todd. His dear friends Sheila Elder and Ted Morrison and
nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
An inurnment with military honors will take place at 10:00am Saturday November 11, 2023 at
Mansfield Cemetery Soldiers Field. Followed by a 11:00am visitation 12:00 Noon Memorial
Service at Maddox Memorial COGIC 1148 Walker Lake Rd. Repass will begin at 1:30PM at 228
Illinois Ave N, Mansfield, OH 44905.
