Mr. John W. Robinson

John W. Robinson, beloved life partner, father, brother, grandfather, and entrepreneur, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2023, at the age of 80. He was born in Selma, Alabama on October 13, 1943, and later settled in Columbus, Ohio, where he made a lasting impact on his community.

John also known as “Billy”, was a hardworking individual who dedicated his life to entrepreneurship. He founded his own successful janitorial service, John’s Cleaning Company, where his granddaughter, Teairra Whitby was by his side. He made significant contributions to the industry. With his determination and business acumen, he built a thriving business that served numerous clients in the Columbus area.

Outside of work, John cherished his time with his family. He was a loving life partner of 50 years to Lois A. Whitby, father to his children, Michelle Whitby, Shawn Brown, Charlene Whitby, Charmaine Jackson, and son, Leon Terry. He also valued his relationships with his surviving siblings, including his brother, Edward Williams (spouse Kecia) and sisters, Sarah Samuels, Johnnie Mae Williams, Joyce Smith, and Ann Williams. He is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. John’s family was an essential part of his life, and he always made it a priority to support and be present for their significant milestones and celebrations.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents, John and Daisy Williams; sisters, Carolyn Brewster, Barbara Jackson and brother, Tyrone Williams.

In his leisure time, John enjoyed exploring thrift stores, finding hidden treasures, and indulging in his love of sports. An enthusiastic Ohio State Buckeyes fan and dedicated supporter of the Cleveland Cavaliers, he always cheered on his favorite teams with unwavering loyalty.

John will be remembered for his warm smile, kind heart, and unwavering dedication to his loved ones. His strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit have inspired many, leaving behind a legacy in the business community. He also worked at St. Phillips and The YMCA on Woodland Ave, and was formerly employed at General Motors, The Railroad Co., and had contracts with several daycare centers.

John will be dearly missed by his life partner Lois, his siblings, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. May his soul rest in peace and may his memory forever be a blessing to all who knew him.
