Joyce Marie Jones entered this world on August 5, 1939 in Louise, MS. She was the third of twelve children born to the late Malachi Jones, Sr. and Persephone Marie Miller – Jones.
The hour glass with its sands of time has slowly, but surely, spilled its contents and with the passing of the last grain of sand went the life of Mother Joyce Marie Twyman (to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord – to God be the Glory).
She was raised in Louise, MS. and accepted the Lord at an early age. On February 5, 1953 her family moved to Mansfield, Ohio, and she attended Mansfield Senior High School. She became a member of the Temple of Faith Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the late Elder L. G. Maddox. Which later became Maddox Memorial COGIC under the leadership of the late Superintendent Aaron Williams, Sr. At Temple of Faith, she was a very active member in the Sunday School Department, Radio Choir, and she conducted Testimony Services.
In October 1979, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Elder Albert Twyman, Jr.
She later joined Latter Rain Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Superintendent Louis Blevins Jr. She was a very active member there, by serving on the Mothers’ Board, she was the First President of the Usher Board, she served in the Women’s Department, Communion Committee, Nursing Home Ministry, and she organized the Twelve Table Birthday project.
She was employed at Hartman Electric for twenty-five years. She also was one of the care-givers for our mother (Persephone Marie Jones).
She leaves to celebrate her home-going, and to cherish her memories, her loving and devoted daughter, Persephone Marie (James) Williams Sr.,; one granddaughter, Mariah Williams; four-sisters, La Dorothy Hunter of Germantown, TN., State Supervisor Sharon (Superintendent Louis) Blevins of Mansfield, Ohio, Thomasine Wallace of Reynoldsburg, Ohio, Pastor Alexis Selman of Mansfield, Ohio; three-brothers, Herman Earl (Terri) Jones of Columbus, Ohio, Thomas Levon Jones of Mansfield, Ohio, Jerome Jones of Canton, Ohio; One brother n law, William “Bill Twyman, Columbus, Ohio; two bonus sons, Johnny Twyman and Albert Twyman of Texas; three bonus grandsons, James (Britney) Williams, Robert Williams, Isaac (Tiffany Nicole) Williams, Terrance Twyman, Oberian Twyman, Johnny (JR) Twyman; Three bonus granddaughters, Tiffany Burrage, Chaunise Shelley, Sylvia Webb; bonus great-grandchildren, her Latter Rain Church Family, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and godchildren.
Mother Marie Twyman is preceded in death by her husband, Albert Twyman Jr.; parents, Malachi and Persephone Marie Jones; one brother, Malachi; three sisters, Juanita, Lucille, Esther (Queenie).
She fought a good fight, she has finished her course, she has kept the faith, and now she is gone to be with the Lord.
