Nakeetra C Ferguson

NAKEETRA CIARA FERGUSON was born into the union of Douglas Glenn Ferguson and Veronica Denise Ferguson on Saturday, April 1, 1989. Following a ten-month courageous battle with a very rare and aggressive cancer referred to as Ewing Sarcoma/PNET, Nakeetra entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at the young age of 30, surrounded by her loved ones, at The James Cancer Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. She was an admired, loved, and respected daughter, sister, niece, cousin, and a dear friend of many.

Nakeetra came to know the Lord and accepted Jesus Christ at very young age. She was a modern-day believer in Jesus Christ that allowed God to help her minister to people of all walks of life. Nakeetra encouraged, uplifted, and shared the gospel with everyone she became acquainted with.

Nakeetra was a sports enthusiast. Her favorite sports team was the Michigan Wolverines. She played soccer, participated in AAU and high school basketball. Nakeetra was a 2007 graduate of Gahanna Lincoln High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Cincinnati. She also received a Certificate of Completion from the Per Scholas IT Training and Career Development Center.

As a child, Nakeetra attended Victory Deliverance and New Generation Church. As an adult, she often attended First Church of God, New Salem Baptist Church, and New Birth Christian Ministries. More recently, Nakeetra became Director of Social Media for New Generation Church. She also took part in the Produce Give Away Program and the Faith on Eighth, feeding the homeless project.

Nakeetra interned with the Western & Southern tournaments (The Cincinnati Master Open), the Cincinnati Reds, City of Columbus, and the City of Dublin. Nakeetra was an IT Specialist for the Wendy’s Corporation.

Nakeetra was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Ralph Herman and Pearl Olivia Walker, Sr.; her uncle, Ralph Herman Walker Jr.; and her paternal grandparents, Luther and Eva Jerline Ferguson. She leaves to cherish her memories her parents, Douglas G. Ferguson and Veronica D. Ferguson; brothers, Jermaine L. Henderson and Marcus K. Ray; a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins, family, friends, and two pet Schnauzers, Tunechi and Tucker.

Visitation 11:00 AM and Funeral Service 12:00 PM Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at New Birth Christian Ministries, 3475 Refuge Rd.

Interment at Union Cemetery Association.
