Naomi Laura Jean Williams-Jones

Naomi Laura Jean Williams-Jones, age 78. Sunrise August 10, 1944 and Sunset April 17, 2023. Naomi Laura Jean Williams-Jones was the fourth child of Sam and Carrie Williams. She was born in Alton, Illinois and the family soon after moved to Michigan.

She was a wife, a mother, grandmother, a great grandmother, a minister, poet and a loyal friend.

Naomi was a graduate of Benton Harbor High and was a P-31 woman who managed and owned businesses, created social programs and was an advocate for her community. She served as First Lady for the City of Benton Harbor, Michigan, where she supported her husband by planning events, social and political gatherings and representing the City of Benton Harbor with style and grace. She was known for her flare and interior design. During her tenure as First Lady her home was part of the Parade of Homes Tours, an annual charity event that featured historical homes in the city.

Her interior design was given an honorable mention in Better Homes and Gardens and was cited as being exquisite . Naomi
found antiques designed and created window treatments that restored the historical landmark to its former glory of the 1890’s.

After relocating to Columbus, Ohio Naomi became a treatment foster parent. At count over 100 children were assisted, through placement throughout her career. Her understanding and training of providing love and support as a parent was the soil that rooted many lost children and gave hope to families that desired to be reunited.

She is survived by her husband; Norman Jones, children; Laura, Joel, Lisa, Jacques, Brenda and Charmaine, siblings; Sam, Alphonse and Charles and Ruth.

She was preceded in death by her son; Emmanuel.

She has 31 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. A special mention for her granddaughter Joelle who she trusted with her life
and stood by her to the very end. Her talent was only overshadowed by her kind heart and exuberant personality. She was the life of every party and the sunshine of our lives.

Visitation 11:00 AM and Funeral Service 12:00 PM Thursday, May 4, 2023 at Rhema Christian Center, 2100 Agler Road.
