Norman Lee Carter, a beloved son, brother, father, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on March 20, 2025, on his 75th birthday. Born on March 20, 1950, in Columbus, Ohio, Norman was renowned for his vibrant personality and zest for life.
A dedicated worker, Norman built a career as a factory worker with Timken Co., and later contributed his skills at the OSU Medical Center and as an HVAC Specialist and handyman at a local apartment complex. He attended Linden McKinley High School, he was proud of his roots in Columbus, where he spent his entire life enriching the community around him.
Norman will be lovingly remembered by his sisters, Mary (Ernest) Jefferson, Perrilene Ayers, and Erma (Charles) James. He also leaves behind his children, Diante Tanner and TaShea Giles, his beloved niece Donna Carter, nephew Curtis Carter, sister-in-law Sherrie Carter, and a multitude of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Among those who held a special place in his heart were his dear friends Gary Allison and Yvonne Richardson. He was preceded in death by his parents Perry and Naomi Carter, his grandparents Ralph and Viola Cook, his brothers Joseph and Wilbur Carter, and his sister Gail Carter.
Norman was known for his impeccable style and love for dressing sharply. He was the life of every gathering, always enjoying the spotlight and making those around him smile. His passion for cooking and sharing meals with family and friends created lasting memories that will not be forgotten.
Visitation from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on April 2, 2025. The funeral service will commence at 2:00 PM, honoring the joyous spirit and legacy of Norman Lee Carter.
