Pastor Lemmie R. Jordon

Pastor Lemmie Ruth Jordon was born on June 1, 1929, in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Elder Oscar Hall and Mother Ruth Hall. She attended Columbus City Schools, graduating from East High School in 1947. She was married for 15 years to Albert Steele, who passed away after a long illness. They had 6 children together.

Lemmie Ruth Jordon accepted Christ at the age of fifteen. In 1947, her father founded Hanford Village Church of God in Christ. After his death in 1964, the late Pastor Ernest Jordon was appointed pastor of the church. He would later marry Lemmie and they worked together in the service of the Lord until his death in 1982.

Upon his death, Lemmie Ruth Jordon became Pastor of the church, started Greater Works Ministries (GWM) and moved the church from its original location on Payne Ave, to Reeb Ave in 1999. The church was renamed Greater Jordon Temple and under GWM she oversaw churches in California, Canada, Argentine, Chile, Santo Domingo, Cost Rica, Nicaragua, Ecuador and West Africa. She was the Pastor of Greater Jordon Temple and Overseer of Greater Works Ministries until her retirement in 2011.

Lemmie Ruth Jordon was a servant of God her entire life. She was also the Matriarch of her family. She enjoyed helping others, spending quality time with her family, fashion, scrabble, watching the soaps or CNN, keeping up with the royal family and travel.

She was preceded in death by her parents Oscar and Ruth Hall, her husband’s Albert Steele and Ernest Jordon, and her children: Nettie, Jerome and Dorinda.

She leaves to cherish her memory her children Albert, Cecelia and Reginald (Deborah). Also her grandchildren: Ricky, Zila (Richard), Tony (Genesis), Shona (Paul), Lemme, Giles (Heidi), Treasnel and Keisha; 10 great-grandchildren; and, 3 great-great-grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and spiritual sons and daughters will also miss her dearly.

Visitation 10:00 AM and Funeral Service 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Triedstone Bapitst Church, 858 E. 3rd. Ave.

Interment at Green Lawn Cemetery.
