Pearl Jennings

Pearl F. Jennings, age ,  Sunrise April 18, 1927 in Bonaire, GA and Sunset June 28, 2018 in Auburn, CA.

Ecclesiastes: To everything there is a season, a time for every matter under heaven; a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to weep, and a time to laugh, a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to keep, and a time to cast away.

We are gathered here today in the memory of my beautiful mother Pearl (Cainion) Favors Jennings, so that we may acknowledge and share both our joy in the gift that her life brought to us, and the pain that her passing brings. In sharing the joy and pain together today, may we lessen the pain and remember more clearly the incredible joy that she brought into so many lives.

Pearl lived a long and beautiful 92 years of life until she passed away on June 28 in Roseville, California. She was a vibrant, classy woman who lit up a room whenever she walked in. She had quick wit and a wonderful sense of humor that created endearing and lasting relationships which is a testament to her bright and spirited nature.

It’s extremely hard to say good-bye. While we know that she is now at peace and her struggles are over, we wish we had more time, and that her last year was not spent in illness. But even though she has gone, she has truly left the legacy of her love and joy. The way she touched each of our lives will remain, and we ask that you keep those memories alive by sharing them with our family and with one another.

The number one thing that mom treasured the most was loving and supporting her family. As a child growing up in a big household with strong family values, mom, as a young, married woman innately desired to raise a family that exemplified the values and behaviors of a close, loving family. She worked extremely hard and tenaciously and always made sure that her family was well kept. She devoted her entire life to raising her five kids as well as grandkids. She was happiest when she was surrounded by family, cooking her signature southern-style foods, and sharing lots of love and laughter. She enjoyed sharing her talents in song; loved, loved, loved shopping; was a talented seamstress in your younger years, and had a fashion sense second none.

Pearlene lived in Marion, Ohio a good portion of her married life while raising a family. She was a well-respected and loved woman who successfully managed and operated three family-owned businesses. She was well known as an excellent chef who never measured one ingredient, yet her dishes were always fully flavored, moist and served with perfection; she was also well known as a fine baker, particularly her signature German chocolate cake.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Pink and Sarah Wilson Cainion; husbands, Will Tom Favors and Walter Jennings; children, Christine Tinsley and Jerry Favors and siblings, Hazel, Ora, Mary, Pink Jr., Alvin, Felix, Melvin and William.  Left to cherish her memory, daughter, Vanessa  Visitation; sons, Thomas Favors and Frederick Favors; sisters, Hattie Bullock, Nancy Beatrice Hill and Myrtis Cainion, and a host of grandchildren, other family and friends
