Pecolia Dunson, 85, of Groveport, Ohio, peacefully departed this life at home on Sunday, July 14, 2024.
Mother Dunson was born on February 22, 1939, in South Hampton, Virginia. She was a faithful and dedicated member of Rehoboth temple church where her presence and contributions were deeply valued. Pecolia was a woman of many talents, excelling in fashion and the arts. She created beautiful hats under the brand “Hats by Pede,” designed stunning floral arrangements, and worked as a skilled seamstress. Her creative works were a testament to her dedication and passion for her craft. She found great joy and comfort in the music of her favorite gospel artist, Pastor Shirley Caesar while engaging in her artistic pursuits.
Pecolia was preceded in death by her father, Willie B. Evans, and her mother, Johnny L. Blunt (Evans); her sisters, Bernice Ivory, and Dorothy McCrea; her brother, Robert Evans Sr.; her best friend and overseer, Elinor Bowers; her daughter, Carla Allen; and her loving and devoted husband, Elder Alexander Dunson Jr., with whom she shared 57 blessed years of marriage.
She is survived by her six children: Cloria (Johnnie) Croom, Carl Evans, Carolyn Dunson, Alan Dunson, Michael (Sheila) Dunson, and Dena Dunson. Her legacy lives on through her 23 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great- great-grandchild. Her siblings, Willie (Katie) Evans and Leo Evans, the Bowers/Bostic family, special friend Ernestine Ujah, and honorary grandson BK Ujah also cherish her memory. Her extended family includes nephews, nieces, cousins, and dear family friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.Visitation 10:00 AM and Funeral Service 11:00 AM Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Little Rock Church of Christ, 857 Frebis Ave.
Interment 9:00 AM Monday, July 22, 2024 at Dayton National Cemetery.
