Phillip Brown

Phillip Brown was born October 14, 1987 in Columbus, OH. to Crystal Brown and Terry Ragland Sr. He attended East High School his freshman and sophomore year, then transferred to Bexley High School. He excelled as a running back scoring 12 touchdowns, 1,268 yards on 189 carries. All in his first year of attending Bexley.

Phillip or “Phil” or “Big Phil” was an active member of the community where he volunteered as a little league football coach. He also volunteered with charity in feeding the less fortunate. Phil had a big heart and was always willing to help or give.

Big Phil was a very loving, respectful man (Teddy Bear) he would always try to rub his stomach on you or was quick to take his shirt off. Phil was known for his contagious spirit, his smile that would melt your heart, and a hug that would comfort your soul.

Phil enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a diehard Cowboys fan just like his mother, despite their record. Phil had a very special bond with his brothers David and Joshua. Most of the time if you seen Phil you seen Dave. They inspired each other, tried to team up against Josh at times, but they would never try “Big Phil”. The brothers had that bond to playing jokes, dances battles, and even trying to rap. Phil was a phenomenal father to his son to whom he cherish and loved deeply.

He is preceded in death by grandmother Shirley M. Brown, Alice Ruth Ragland, great grandmother Gladys Monroe, and a host of great uncles and aunts.

He leaves to cherish his memory with loving mother Crystal (Christopher) Brown, father Terry Ragland, god-parents DeJuan and Terri Pratt, son Damarr (Cassie) Brown, sisters Tasha Brown, Danielle Brown, Teria Hemphill, Terra Ragland, brothers Joshua Brown, David Brown, Antonio Whitson, Terry Ragland Jr., Christopher Whiteside Jr., uncles Gary Richardson, Stanley Ragland, Eric Brown, aunts Connie Brown, Medric Ragland, Belinda Ragland, great aunts Arlene Richardson, Brenda Donahue, Von Wilson, great uncles Henry (Camille) Richardson, Ronald Richardson, special friend Matthew Brown, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation 11:00am and Funeral 12:00pm Monday, March 12, 2018 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH, 2500 Cleveland Ave.

Interment at Eastlawn Cemetery.
