Phyillis Regina James

Phyllis Regina James was born to James and Helen James on February 14, 1970 in Hampton, Virginia. As a young adult, she went to South High School where she played the flute in band. Even in her early life, she never let her disability define who she was. She broke all the barriers that were placed in front of her, and encouraged those around her to do the same.

Everyone that knew Regina knew she would have six inch heels, hair curled to the max, and nails always on point. She loved cooking and travelling, which she was inspired by her mother Helen James and Grandmother Romelia Mclean. When Regina wasn’t rocking heels, she would be screaming at the screen when the New York Giants were playing, or spending hours into the night playing computer games. She always had her doors and arms open for anyone that needed her. Regina was always wearing purple like the queen she was, and no one could tell her she didn’t look good. Regina lived her life to the fullest and wouldn’t let anyone stop her. Even if they tried, they could never catch her.

She is preceded in death by her Parents James A. James and Helen M. James, Grandparents Romelia Mclean and Junious Mclean, Uncles Rudolph Mclain and Franklin Mclean, Aunts Shirley Taylor, Connie Chavers, and Christine Redcross, and Special Uncle Willie McKrimmon.

Left to cherish her memory are Daughters Micahya Simpkins and Jazmyne Simpkins, Brother Joseph (Yuvonne) Draughon, Special Uncles James (Rinda) McKrimmon Sr. and Thomas (Vernice) Mclean Sr., Aunts Zella “Susie” Mclean, Tamika Mclean, and Helen Grace Tomlinson, Nephew Deysaun Jones, Nieces Cassandra Draughon, Briana Draughon, ShaudayDraughon, and Ciearia Hargrove, Great NieceIsrielle Burks, Great Nephews Richard Burks III, Levi Draughon, and JevonNohks, and God Daughter Janyra McKrimmon.
