Rashawn Michael Gleich, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away on August 17, 2023, at the age of 45. Born on December 15, 1977, in Columbus, OH, Rashawn brought joy and positivity into the lives of all those who knew him. His passing has left a void in our hearts that can never be filled, but his memory will forever be cherished.
Rashawn was a man of many passions and interests. He enjoyed teaching his children cooking and gardening. He possessed an unwavering love for fishing, finding solace and contentment in the peacefulness of the water. He was an avid football fan, with a particular devotion to the Ohio State Buckeyes. Rashawn’s stylish attire, from his impeccable dress to his sophisticated watches and accessories, always demonstrated his eye for fashion. He also had a green thumb and enjoyed spending time tending to his plants and garden, creating beautiful spaces that brought him tranquility and happiness. He was definitely a night owl talking on the phone, eating and watching television. He loved classic Mercedes and Cadillacs.
Driven by his commitment to his family, Rashawn always strived for excellence in every aspect of his life. He wanted the best for his loved ones, whether it was ensuring their success in the classroom, supporting their dreams on the football field, or making life-altering decisions with their well-being in mind. His discipline and dedication set an inspirational example for all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Professionally, Rashawn found fulfillment as a truck driver in the trucking industry, where he worked for various trucking companies throughout career. He took great pride in his work and was valued by his colleagues for his reliability and work ethic. Rashawn’s commitment to his job was matched only by his devotion to his family.
He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Frances Briggs and son, Henry Mayo.
Rashawn is survived by his loving wife, Julianah Olobatuyi of 22 plus years, his cherished children: Monisola Gleich, Rajha Gleich, and Nehemiah Gleich. He is also survived by his father, Robert Butler, his brother, Damien; sisters, Felicia, Natalie, and Nicole; aunts, Patricia Norris of Georgia, Angela Lindbom of Washington and Faye Butler of Ohio;cousins, Mikeya, Marcus-Tor, Ryan, Taylor, Keenan, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Together, they formed a tight-knit family unit that brought joy and laughter into Rashawn’s life every day.
On September 23, 2023, a funeral service will take place at MARLAN GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH 2500 Cleveland Ave. at 11:00 am, preceded by a visitation starting at 10:00 am. The burial will be held on September 25, 2023, at 12:00 pm, at 1000 Greenlawn Ave., Columbus, OH.
Although Rashawn’s earthly journey has come to an end, his spirit will forever remain in our hearts. We will remember him for his kindness, his infectious smile, and his genuine love for his family. May he rest in eternal peace, knowing the profound impact he had on all those fortunate enough to have known him.
