Rebecca Ann Carey, age 73, of Columbus, Ohio passed away on Thursday June 6, 2024. She was born in Covington, Kentucky on February 13, 1951, to the late Ike and Sallie Leigh (Lee). 

Rebecca was preceded in death by her parents, Ike and Sallie Leigh (Lee); daughters, Katina and Erica Lee-Walker; sisters, Rosemary Hunter, Ella Hydlebeerg, Bonnie Jackson-Wright and Esther Whyte; and brother, Joseph Lee. 

Rebecca is survived by loving husband, Freeman Carey; children, Cynthia (Terrance) Johnson, Ryan Lee, Toni Lee, Wartime Carey and Monica Carey, daughter, Kimberly Williams; a legacy of grandchildren, Miles (Naja), Joseph Lee, Kiarra Lee, Kaisuana Lee, Kaydance Lee, Kortney

Hairston, MiKing Lee, Keonna Lee, Ryean Lee, Kendall Lee, Rynya Carey, Krystal Carey, Kayla Carey, Kisura Carey, Tywren Carey, Phillip Jones, Jr. and a host of great grandchildren. She also leaves to cherish her memory are her sisters, Lucille Cook, Marjorie Ragland and Gloria Young and a host of family and friends. 

Rebecca received Christ early in life, officiated by Elder E.J. Thompson at Church of God in Christ in Erlanger, Kentucky. Rebecca attended Holmes High School in Covington, KY then moved to be closer to her sisters in Columbus, OH. While in Columbus, she attended Columbus Technical Institute where she obtained her associate degree in law enforcement. She then attended North Adult School in Columbus, Ohio where she obtained her LPN license. She was employed with many nursing homes in the Columbus area. She spent the most years at The State of Ohio Columbus Development Center. She was last employed with Heinzerling Foundation. Rebecca loved being a nurse and it showed. While in the nursing home and in the hospital, she continued to attempt to do the work she loved to do. Rebecca was also a member of the United States Navy Reserves.
