Rebecca Redman

Rebecca, also known affectionately as “Becky” was born April 18, 1935 to Charles and Marie Barnes in McDonough, Georgia. As a young child her family moved to Columbus, Ohio and became part of a close-knit community called Burnside. Rebecca was a graduate of West High school.

On November 26, 1957 she married her childhood sweetheart Earl Redman with whom she shared 51 wonderful years of marriage. Their union was filled with love, full of fun, and many adventures. From this union was born their only child Kevin D. Redman.

Becky was a hard worker and had a zeal for life. She retired from the State of Ohio, Department of Liquor Control. As a faithful member of Refuge Baptist Church, she participated in the choir, and volunteered for various events and activities. While being a wonderful Mom, wife, and grandmother, and dedicated employee; she found time to enjoy life. She was part of a bowling league, played in an occasional tennis match, loved to travel, and spend time with family and friends. She was always ready for a shopping trip to ensure she looked good for every occasion.

On Wednesday, December 29,2021 she went to eternal rest with the Lord; for a grand reunion with those left before her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl D. Redman; grandmother, Emma “Mo” Sparks; her parents, Charles and Marie Barnes; siblings, Ruby L. Jackson, Julia Redman, Elizabeth Zeigler, James Barnes Sr, and Lamar Barnes; special niece, Doris Donald; and her great friends, Joyce Clark, Myrna Johnson, and Nancy Wilson.

Becky leaves to cherish her memory and ensure her legacy lives on is son, Kevin D. Redman; granddaughter, Tiffany (Willie) R. Malone of Columbus; great-granddaughter, Aniah F. Harper-Sherrod; sisters Emma Jones, Jane Anthony, and Christine Hampton; special granddaughter, Yakira (Terrance) C. Tumbay; special nephew Terry Jewell; and her great friends Louise White and Lenora Knowles, a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation 10:00am and Funeral 11:00am Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Refuge Baptist Church, 400 N 20th Street.

Interment at Sunset Cemetery.
