Richard Spencer Blunt

Richard Spencer Blunt, age 73, was born in Columbus, Ohio to Richard A. and Frances E. Blunt on October 23, 1946 and went home to be with the Lord on September 27, 2020. He was a retired employee of The Federal Glass Company, then worked at Buckeye Gypsum, and was last employed with Buckeye Steel Castings in Columbus.

Richard was a lifelong resident of Columbus, Ohio. At Eastmoor High School he was recognized for his artistic abilities. Known for his strength, Richard is in the Eastmoor Hall of Fame for his wrestling accomplishments, including being one of the top two wrestlers in the state for three consecutive years.

Richard was a very hard-working man and often volunteered to work double shifts. He was generous to his family and friends, willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed help. Richard had extraordinary skills and could build or fix anything from roofs to car transmissions. An amazing cook, Richard shared his culinary secrets with many generations of the family. Richard spent a lot of his spare time on the banks of Ohio creeks, rivers, and lakes fishing. When at home, he enjoyed solving crossword puzzles and watching television shows about history, nature, or anything fact-based to stimulate and educate his mind.

Richard was preceded in death by his loving ex-wives Sandra J. Blunt (Holliman) and Shirley Blunt (Mullins); parents, Richard and Frances Blunt; brothers, Kenneth and George Blunt; mother-in-law Mary Holliman; and brother-in-law, George Holliman.

Left to cherish his memory are his son Richard S. Blunt II (Laurel); daughters Constance Blunt and Nicole Blunt; stepdaughters Kimberly Parker, Diva Holliman, Monica Holliman, and Reiko Caliman; stepsons Omar Mullins and Mahdee Mullins; sisters Alice (“Bebe”) Blunt, Francene Blunt, and Susan Blunt; brothers Charles Blunt and Keith Blunt (Colita); granddaughters Bria’ Blunt, Leah Blunt, Brittany Ballard, and Sandre`el Holliman; grandsons James Walker, Richard Blunt III, Noah Blunt, Spencer Blunt, Keyivaun Blunt, Keyiron Blunt, RaShaun Holliman, John Holliman, Butch Graham, Tony McKee, Queston Holliman and Ryan Holliman; aunt Mabel Calhoun (Horsley); sister-in-law Sharon Brown and a host of other great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

PRIVATE Visitation 1:00 PM and Funeral Service 2:00 PM Friday, October 9, 2020 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave.
