Ricky Lee Stewart was born August 12,1959 to the parents of Gloria Stewart and George Stewart Sr in Willamson, West Virginia. The family ended up moving to Columbus, Ohio in later years and eventually Ricky would start his family there. He received Christ at an early age and walked with the Lord to the very end. He grew up attending the Lord Jesus Christ Church that was founded by his uncle Bishop John Lee. He later moved to Springfield Ohio for a few years and became the head armor bearer for Bishop Ronald M. Logan at Greater Grace Temple which ended up sparking a life long "father and son" relationship that lasted the remaining years of his life.
Ricky never met a stranger. If you crossed his path, you were bound to hear one of his corny jokes-or a dozen of them. He had a big heart, a stubborn streak a mile wide, and a love for his children that he showed in the best ways he knew how. Ricky was the proud father of nine children: Ricky Harley, Dwight Harley, Dwayne Harley, Ramon Stewart Sr, Cynthia Stewart, Rakeasha Stewart, BreShae Stewart, Ricky Stewart Jr, Richaun Stewart, and a grandfather to nineteen grandchildren. He has six siblings, Eddie Stewart, George Stewart (in heaven), Bruce Stewart (Ramona), Larry Stewart, Danny Stewart (Kim) and Veronica Grayson (Sam) and his mother Gloria Stewart who will all carry on his memory. "Stewart's don't die, they multiply." That's what he always said (and he wasn't lying), and if you ever met him, you'd know his presence was too big to be forgotten. He was competitive to his core, whether in sports, a card game, or making sure he got the biggest plate at dinner (you couldn't have macaroni or spaghetti around him) lol. He loved to laugh - mostly at his own jokes - and had a way of turning every moment into a story worth telling. He played sports growing up, served his country for a few years, worked security all of his life, watched his favorite teams the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Pittsburgh Steelers, and spent a lifetime listening to the same songs and watching the same movies over and over, as if they only got better each time. And if you ever thought you could outsmart him, he had a reminder ready: "I've been your age, but you ain't been mine."
Though life wasn't always easy for him, he found ways to be present-through phone calls, prayers, words of encouragement, and lending a hand whenever he could. He found joy in being needed by his children. He would do any and everything he could for them. Whether it was helping someone move, taking his kids out to eat, hopping on the grill, watching his grandkids, offering advice, or simply reminding his kids how much he loved them, he tried to give what he could. He may not have lived a life filled with fancy titles or degrees, but he lived on his own terms. And if he were here now, he'd probably say, "I ain't had this much fun since I left the country."
He was a man of faith, even in his struggles, but now can rest peacefully in the presence of Jesus. Though his time here has ended, his stories, his laughter, and the love he had for his family will live on forever. Ricky will be greatly missed.......
