Robert A. Lane

Robert Aaron Lane, born March 25, 1981 to Juanita Lane in Columbus, Ohio. Robbie went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 6, 2021. Robbie was educated in the Columbus City School District, where he attended Walnut Ridge High School.

At an early age, Robbie gave his life to the Lord making a commitment to not only serve the Lord but serve his Late Pastor Charles H. Rogers Sr. and Faith Tabernacle Church of God in Christ. He always participated in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, The Sunshine Band, The Younger Generation and the Choir from his younger years until his transition.

Robbie wore many hats at FTC, where he FAITHFULLY served under the leadership of Founder Elder C. H. Rogers Sr., Elder C.H. Rogers Jr. and current Pastor Paul Davis Jr. Robbie was the organist, bus driver, assisted with administrative duties, lawn care services, security, technology, and building maintenance. Robbie would come up to the church on a daily basis “Just to check on things” finding things that needed to be done and completing the tasks.

Growing up in the church, Robbie was blessed with many of the Mothers who always supported him. Those Mothers include Mother Velma Rodgers, Mother Ford, Mother Graves, Mother Baker, Mother Wilborn, Granny and Sister Chris Wilson.

Robbie had two biological older brothers, Chris and Alan. Growing up, they all shared a love for football, WWE and WWF wrestling. The Lane boys were raised to know Jesus and how to care and conduct themselves as such. All three boys provided care for their Mom with compassion and respect.

When Robbie was born Chris, Alan, Aunt Margaret, Eld. Charles H. Rogers Sr. and Aunt Cynthia Dennis were among the first ones to see him. Robbie was blessed to have God parents that not only he loved but they Loved and supported him as well. He shared years of memories with his God Parents, Chief David Dennis and wife Cynthia Dennis, their children Kim, Stacey, David and Angela. Robbie worked for Dennis K-9 Security, a company which his God Parents owned. While working there, he served them just as faithfully as he served the church, providing K-9 Security to many businesses in Central Ohio. There were so many fun memories of everyone riding on “THE DOG TRUCK”.

Robbie’s mother always encouraged him to acknowledge Christ in all things and everything else would work itself out. This mentality caused him to not only be unmovable in his Faith in God, but to serve God’s People with love. Robbie had an undying love in caring for seniors. His very special relationship with Aunt Juanita allowed Robbie to learn so much. She was 102 years old and those two were inseparable. His love for her never diminished and was felt until his transition.

Though he was always meeting new people, he knew no stranger. He carried himself in such a way that he was often mistaken for a member of the Clergy. He was a people person with a genuine compassion to serve.

Robbie was absolutely hilarious. He could impersonate anything and anybody and be spot on with their tone, mannerisms, and dialect. There was never a dull moment if you were around him. Robbie was bound to put a smile on your face or make you laugh.

Robbie had people that loved him. He had several God Brothers and Sisters in addition to the Dennis family: Devyn (MeShia) Coleman, Daniel “Danny” Coleman, Jason Padgett, Michael Kirkland, Kim Newsome, Jennifer and Aaron Johnson. He shared many loving memories with his nieces and nephews. All knew him as their loving “Uncle Robbie”.

His love for music started at an early age and some of His favorite songs included, “Trouble Don’t last always”, “Jesus is Real”, “I won’t complain”, “Accept what God allows”, and “You’ve been so faithful”. Just before his transition he was able to get a keyboard and have the opportunity to sing some of his favorite songs.

Robbie is preceded in death by his grandmother Juanita Lane, Aunt Juanita Redden, Aunt Margaret and Uncle Robert Lane (whom he was named after).

He is survived by his loving mother: Juanita Lane, God Parents: David and Cynthia Dennis, Brothers: Alan (Deniece) Lane, Chris Lane, David Dennis Jr., Devyn (MeShia) Coleman, Daniel Coleman and Michael Kirkland; Sisters: Ahesa Green-Jackson, Meca Givens, Kimberly Dennis, Stacey Dennis, Angela Dennis.
