Rodney Dewitt Wooden Sr, a man of great compassion and boundless creativity, earned his angel wings on December 5, 2023. Born on November 4, 1956, in Columbus, OH, Rodney was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, son and cherished friend to many. His journey on earth may have come to an end, but his spirit will forever remain in our hearts.

Rodney’s life was a testament to his unwavering dedication and commitment to purpose. Having earned several degrees, he constantly sought knowledge and wisdom, inspiring those around him to embrace the power of education. A proud Navy veteran, Rodney served his country with honor and bravery. His sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Rodney was a man of many passions. His love for creating stained glass artistry brought beauty and joy to countless lives. With meticulous attention to detail and a keen eye for design, his creations were a reflection of his artistic brilliance. Rodney’s love for travel allowed him to explore diverse landscapes and cultures, igniting a fire within him to appreciate the wonders of this world.

Music was Rodney’s constant companion throughout his life’s journey. From the soothing melodies of jazz to the electrifying beats of rock and roll, every note resonated with his soul. His infectious enthusiasm for music was contagious and brought solace to those in his presence.

Left to cherish his memory is his amazing wife, Bonnie Wooden; and their beloved sons, Rodney Dewitt Wooden Jr., John Maurice Wooden, Darren Jacob Wooden, Anthony Lawrence Wooden; Host of grandkids, nieces and nephews; brothers, Terry Wooden (Harriet), John Williams (Stephanie), Mark Wooden, William Wooden (Robbie).

Preceded in death by parents, Bishop William Kay Wooden, Marian L. Wooden; brother, Robert Williams. Their lives have been forever enriched by Rodney’s love, support, and radiant spirit. In the face of this profound loss, they find solace in the countless memories they shared together

Visitation 10:00am and Funeral 11:00am Thursday, January 18, 2024 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH, 2500 Cleveland Ave.

Interment with Military Honors at Dayton National Cemetery.
