The Obituary

Rodney Scott Whitener was born on July 9, 1959, toRoosevelt and Margaret Whitener. Rodney held several jobs during his lifetime. Auto detailing washis expertise. Rodney was thehead Detailer for Jim Kliem, a Ford Motor dealership where he controlled and maintained the receiving and delivery of new and used inventory. Rodney,had 3 men whom he supervised. The owner of the Ford company stated that Rodney was one of the best in his field. Rodney also had an interest in landscaping.Even after his employment at Jim Kliem, he continued to be in high demand for his expertise in the vehicledetailing industry.

Rodney was a hard worker and did not have a lazy day in his life and if he did, he would not letanyonebe aware of it. Rodney strived to have the same excellent work ethic that his father exemplified. His life was filled with both happiness and disappointment. It was not until his father passed that Rodney had to face the reality and live up to the fact that he was the eldest of the four children from the union of Roosevelt and Margaret Whitener.

During Rodney’s search for salvation he lived with his brother James and Tearr Graddic they were an instrumental part of helping him improve his life. He began attending church with them on Sundays and became a devoted member of Calvary Chapel Columbus.Rodney attended Higher Ground in his younger days.
He had a very special relationship with each one of his siblings. His mother was his number one priority.
It was evident in his life that Rodney had become tired. The Lord Jesus Christ heard his cry and called him home from his life’s work.His cry was finally heard and the response was, “Well done. I told you, when you’re ready to come unto me,come, and you did, so I will not let you go back. Come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest”(Matthew 11:28). On February 16, 2020, Rodney Scott Whitener did just that.

Words of prophetic affirmation and reflection, from Rodney’s brother, Apostle R. Randy Graddic: You have suffered much, you have loved long, come and take your rest into my arms, the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and mercy, enter into the joy of the Lord. Rodney, after all his resistance and all his dodging and all his sleepless nights, finally got to hear the words, Well Done, good and faithful servant, Well Done. You’ve done well. You dreamed and you conquered, you fought long and you fought hard, but now, because you saidyou’re tired, I’m here, and I have been here. I never left you, I have never forsaken you; I never turned my back on you. I was here all the time and I am glad you pleased the Father. Come unto Me, My son, the Eldest son, for I have come that you might have life and that more abundantly. Enter in.As the last person you saw was your natural mother, Jesus said, Itoo, saw my mother, as she beheld me, so I allowed your mother to behold you.

He is preceded in death by his father Roosevelt Whitener, his grandparents John and Hester Neeley,his niece Randi Graddic, and nephew Curtis Witcher.
Rodney Scott Whitener leaves to mourn his mother Margaret Whitener, his siblings Apostle Robert Randy Graddic (Linette), James Graddic (Tearr), Robbie Holmes (Clark), Marie Whitener, Diane Whitener, and Roselyn Whitener. Along with host of niece’s, nephew’s, family and friends.

Visitation 11:00 AM and Funeral Service 12:00 PM Monday, March 2, 2020 at Higher Ground Always Abounding Assemblies, 870 St. Clair Ave.

Interment at Union Cemetery Association.
