In humble reverence, we remember Roshelle “Food Soldier” Pate, a soul who gracefully transitioned from this earthly realm on November 13, 2023, in Columbus, Ohio. Born on January 8, 1965, in Marquette, MI, Roshelle embodied the virtues of humility, gratitude, and profound respect for all of creation throughout her life’s journey.
Roshelle’s spirit radiated kindness, embracing the depths of generosity and selflessness. Her love knew no bounds, extending warmth and compassion to all who crossed her path. Her presence left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Roshelle was honored by The Columbus Foundation with its The Spirit of Columbus Award in 2021. She was also a lead ambassador for The Big Table, she paid tribute to Everyday Heroes, but, more than anything, she was a source of light and inspiration to both those in need and those looking to be in service to others.
Left to cherish her memory is her beloved mother, Shirley Pate, whose unwavering love and guidance shaped Roshelle’s path. In addition, her aunt Jerry Fields and her bonus sons, Timmothy Motley II and Myles Motley, were blessed by her nurturing presence. Roshelle also leaves behind a cherished network of cousins and special friends who mourn her loss and treasure the moments shared. She now joins her heavenly ancestors including her grandmothers Lula Fields-Foster and Ellen Adams, and her uncles Sherman Adams, Pete Foster, Curtis Fields, Albert Fields, Rodney Fields and Everett Fields.
Roshelle’s educational journey took her through Marion-Franklin High School, where she laid the foundation for her future accomplishments. Her thirst for knowledge and growth led her to pursue higher education at both Ohio University and Ohio State University, where she soared to new heights.
Roshelle’s life was also marked by her commitment to serve her country. With honor and dedication, she embraced her role in the Airforce, embodying the values of duty, honor, and sacrifice. Her service was a testament to her deep-rooted devotion and commitment to the principles she held dear.
Roshelle’s spiritual journey found solace and inspiration within the sacred walls of New Birth Christian Ministries. Her faith was a guiding light, instilling in her a profound sense of purpose, hope, and resilience.
