Ruth N. Chaney

Nettie Ruth Freeman Chaney was born on December 9, 1923 to the late Robert Lee and Lula Bell Freeman in Georgia.
She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Wiley Methodist Church and then Covenant United Methodist Church both in Springfield, Ohio. She also attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church with her husband Reuben.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years in marriage, Reuben Elijah Chaney; four brothers, Nebosia Freeman (Helen), Robert Freeman (Georgiana),Richard Freeman (Dorothy), and Benjamin Freeman; two sisters, Julia Freeman Bramlette House (Otho), and Precious Jewel Freeman Graham (Paul).

Ruth had lived in Springfield and Yellow Springs, Ohio. She worked at Crowell Collier in Springfield and Book Plate in Yellow Springs. She retired from Antioch College where Ruth worked for many years in the Duplicating Room and as a
Switch Board Operator. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Reuben through out the United States as well as the Bahamas with the Masonics. She was a supporter of Strivers Club and Akbar Temple in which her husband was a member. Ruth enjoyed sewing, bicycling, and swimming.

Her memories will forever be cherished and survived by her daughter, Marcia Chaney Gross (Melvin) and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She loved all her family and enjoyed being with them and all the family gatherings.

Visitation 10:00 AM and Funeral Service 11:00 AM Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Covenant United Methodist Church, [service_1_address]. Interment at Glen Forest Cemetery.
