Sallie B. Ambler, a beloved member of the Columbus community, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2023, at the age of 84. Born on October 2, 1939, in Meansville, Georgia, Sallie was a cherished daughter of her late parents Annie and J.B. Holt and a loving sister to her surviving siblings Annie (Albert) Richards, Betty Ann (Harold) Harper, and Richard Holt.

Sallie’s legacy lives on through her daughter, LaTanya Waters, and her adoring grandchildren, Alisa Parker, Cierra Mullins, Deron Waters, Sanaa Roberts, Christina and Ricardo and great grandchildren, Jada, Kennedy, Harlem, Ricardo, Carson and Elisha.

Known for her radiant smile and boundless joy, Sallie brought happiness to those around her. Fishing was her passion, and she would often be found casting her line at Buckeye Lake and Lake Erie, creating treasured memories with her family. Sallie had a mischievous side and delighted in playful scares, bringing laughter and warmth to gatherings.

Her faith was an integral part of her life, and Sallie was a dedicated member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. She found solace and strength within her spiritual community.

Sallie’s favorite color was blue, which mirrored her vibrant and lively personality. She had a talent for putting together intricate puzzles and framing them, turning them into works of art. Sallie’s generous spirit shined through during the holiday season, as she delighted in giving Christmas presents to her loved ones. Her family will fondly remember her tradition of gifting socks, which became a heartwarming symbol of her love and thoughtfulness.

Christmas at Sallie’s home was always enchanting, with hard candy, (that was not to be touched) oranges, and nuts adorning the table, tantalizing all with their festive charm. She created a magical atmosphere that filled every heart with joy and cheer.

Sallie will now reunite in heaven with her beloved Deacon Johnson, her parents and siblings, John Holt, John Parker, Jessie Holt, Honey Russell, Willie Maude Holt and Jessie Mae Holt.

In addition to her daughter and grandchildren, she is survived by her nieces and nephews, Lewis, Dia, Roxannie, Patrick, Freddy, John, Ricky, Keshawn, Christina, Michael ,San and Chanelle who will forever hold cherished memories of their dear aunt.

Visitation 9:00am and Funeral 10:00am Saturday November 25, 2023, at MARLAN GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH 2500 Cleveland Ave.

Sallie B. Ambler’s departure leaves a void within the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be remembered as a beacon of light, spreading joy wherever she went. Her legacy of love, generosity, and laughter will live on, inspiring generations to come.
