Shatara R. Smith-Kemper

Shatara Richelle Smith-Kemper was born on November 20, 2000 to Brandi Banner in Columbus, Ohio. Shatara transitioned this life on March 26, 2022 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. Shatara was engaged to Tyson Taylor of Columbus, Ohio and accedptedthe Lord at an early age as her personal savior.

Shatara attended Columbus Public Schools at Broadleigh Elementary, Johnson Park Middle School and graduated from Walnut Ridge High School. Shatara was briefly employed with Ambercrombie & Fitch. She was affectionately consider the “neighborhood hair stylist”. Shatara loved to clown with her family and friends. She was a tomboy of the family and she loved her family pets.

Shatara was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Ernest Wayne Samuels; great-grandparents, Richard and Verda Smith; great aunt, Ida Smith; great uncle, Richard Wofford; cousins, Tyrone Miller and Ashlee Simpson; Uncle, Richard (Dickie) Rice; godmother, Ebony McCullough.

Shatara leaves to cherish her memory; son, Messiah AKA Doodie; mother and father, Nelly and Brandi Banner; godfather, Shanard McDaniel; grandmother, Angela Smith (Truss); sisters, Shakara Smith (Naes), Dasha Smith (Xavier), Na’khia Smith; brother, Naes Vanterpool, nephew, Nahcier Vanterpool; uncles, Damion Gilliam (Ariel), Kenny Barbour (April), Patrick Weddington, Tyvonn Barbour (La’Sean); aunt, Asia Samuels; great uncle, Donald Miller; great aunts, Sandra Simpson, Nina Rice, Verda Watkins (Jay); cousins, Fashion Penn, Yolanda Jones (Kenny), Tosha Brown (Tim), Kenyata Dorch (Antwane), Sankay Jones, Marcus and Brittany Taylor; great cousins, Lavonia Allen, Marilyn Taylor, Freda, Linda, Brenda, Donna Jean (Cason Sisters); host of family and friends and extended family, Jasmin McCullough, Ambrosia Hutchins, Brandi Anderson, Korinne and Anthony (Slick) Jamison, Cierra Bradly, Donald Jackson, Ceintia Hatfield and Samuel Hunt. Best friend, Ja’Zionae Montgomery and friend, Jordan Head.

Shatara took with her in flight, her daughter Kamri Taylor. Also left to cherish in memory; uncle, Anthony Taylor and Tayveon Taylor; Kamri’s father, Tyson Taylor and Kamri’s grandmother, Jennifer Powell.

Visitation 10:00 AM and Funeral Service 11:00 AM Friday, April 8, 2022 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE EAST, 5456 E. Livingston Ave.

Interment at Green Lawn Cemetery.
