Shawn Thompson

February 11, 1969 — February 6, 2025

Emblem

Shawn Lynal Thompson Sr., born on February 11, 1969, in South Haven, MI , to Charles and Frieda Thompson. He left us too soon on February 6, 2025, with his family by his side.

A proud graduate of Springfield South High School, Shawn earned his Bachelor's degrees in Horticulture and Agriculture, but his interests extended far beyond academics. He had a passion for sports, cars, and fishing, and he loved cooking up amazing meals. In his downtime, you could find him immersed in video games, sharing laughs and friendly competition with loved ones.

Shawn was also known for his linguistic talents, speaking Spanish in three dialects as well as Portuguese, connecting with people from various backgrounds throughout his life. He proudly served in the Airforce.

Shawn was preceded in death by his father Charles Thompson. He is survived by his spouse, Amber Victoria; his cherished children: son Shawn (Jasmine) Thompson II, daughter Kiera (Philip Butcher) Thompson-Butcher, daughter Krystal (Jonathon Kornacki) Thompson, and son Shane Thompson; his devoted mother, Frieda Thompson; his brother's, Michael (Nanette) Thompson and Kyle (Marquita) Thompson; his grandchildren: Jeremiah, Jayla, Javyn, Jayshawn, Jayonna, Shawn III, and Cash Thompson and Khael Butcher; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and special friend Leroy Benjamin. His loss leaves a profound void in the hearts of his family and friends.

Shawn leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and memories that will forever resonate in the lives he touched. Rest in peace, Shawn. You will be greatly missed.
