Shawn Underwood

Elder Shawn Kermit Underwood also known as Chops and Chopper City was born on March 27, 1977 to Donna Underwood and Kermit Blair in Columbus, Ohio. He was raised in Nelson Park Apartments. Shawn went home to be with the Lord and his loving mother Donna and grandmother Nancy Jane on November 6, 2020. Shawn attended the Church of Jesus Christ Ministries.

Shawn was known for his work in ministry. He loved God and would spread the word to anyone listening. He had a giving heart; and would open his doors to family and friends. He made friends anywhere he went. He was also known for his long conversations, live videos, and selfies on Facebook. Shawn also was a die-hard Cowboys and OSU fan.

Shawn is preceded in death by his loving mother, Donna Underwood; grandmother, Nancy Underwood; uncles, Roger Sadler, Dallas Underwood, and Matt Blair; brother, Dana Blair; and special friends, Anthony “Bucket” Ford, Desmond Allison, Marc Davis, and Apostle Little.

Shawn leaves to cherish his memories, two sons, Tye’Shawn Underwood and James Keys; sisters, Gina, Tanya, Danielle, and Tina; brothers, Tim, Scott and Anthony; aunts, Eljean (Arthur), Peggy, and Jackie; a host of nieces and nephews; special friends, Dirty ENT and Big Mike; roommates, Alvin and Milton; the mother of his children, Taynaea Shakes; ex-wife, Brittainy Wright; and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation 1:00pm and Funeral 2:00pm Friday, November 20, 2020 at MARLAN J. GARY FUNERAL HOME, THE CHAPEL OF PEACE NORTH, 2500 Cleveland Ave.
