Shirley A. Wallington

Shirley A. Wallington was born January 11, 1940 in Sprague, WV to the late Jessie Lee Terry and Rosa Gilbert Terry. She departed this life peacefully Monday, January 13, 2020 at Kobacker House in Columbus, OH at 5:00pm.

Shirley graduated from Stratton High School in Beckley, WV. She later earned a certificate from Resource Training.

Shirley and Robert Wallington, Sr were joined as husband and wife in 1958. To their union, God blessed them with tree sons, the late Larry and Gerald and Robert Jr.

Shirley attended Sunday School and Church faithfully at Shiloh Baptist in WV. She joined the body of Christ at an early age and was baptized. She was a devoted member to the Church.

Shirley and her husband moved to Columbus, OH and joined Bethany Baptist Church. Shirley was a faithful member at the church. She was a president and member of the missionary society. She was president of Pastor’s Ministry for years. She was a co member of the culinary ministry where she cooked and served meals for the homeless.

Shirley was a member of Springhill Baptist Church at the time of her passing. She was an active and loving member. She made the statement, “I am so happy, and I am close enough to walk to my new church, I am at peace.”

Shirley became very ill in late 2019. Robert Jr chose to leave his job to become her Everything Caregiver. Robert Jr gave his mother his undivided attention 24/7. She was most proud and please of his commitment to care for her.

Shirley spent most of her married live loving and caring for her sons. She also was employed at Park Medical Center in Columbus, OH for many years and retired from there.

Shirley is survived by son, Robert Wallington, Jr; brothers, Charles (Kathryn) Terry, Mose Terry, William Henry, Jerry Lewis, and Floyd G. Terry; sisters, Lois Coleman and Mary Story; special friend, Vernice Calloway; three grandchildren, great grandchildren, Springhill Baptist Church family, other relatives and friends.

Visitation 11:00am and Funeral 12:00pm Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Springhill Baptist Church, 2000 E 17th Ave.

Interment at Evergreen Burial Park.
