Shirley was preceded in death by her loving sisters, Sadie (Hudgens) Perdue and Johnnie (Hudgens) Westerfield, as well as her parents. While her presence on this Earth will be sorely missed, Shirley leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and laughter that will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
Known as the life of the party, Shirley had a smile that could light up any room. She was the caregiver of the family, always putting others before herself, taking care of her nieces and nephews, and making sure they knew they were loved no matter what. Her special way of talking to each one of us will forever echo in our hearts.
Shirley was an expert in card games, teaching every one of us how to play with patience and joy. She could always be found with a puzzle book in hand, keeping her mind sharp while spreading warmth to everyone around her.
A truly loving soul, Shirley was always there when we needed her. Her kindness, warm heart, and ability to make everyone feel special is what we will hold on to most.
Shirley is survived by her longtime companion, Walter Turner, with whom she shared a home for over 20 years. She also leaves behind two sisters, Sula (Hudgens) Jennings and Lois (Hudgens) Hayes, along with a host of nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
A special thank you goes to her nieces, Mary (Hudgens) Hatcher and Stephanie Westerfield, who cared for Shirley in her final days with unwavering love and devotion.
While we mourn her passing, we take comfort in knowing that Shirley is now at peace, free from pain, and surrounded by love. Her spirit will live on in each of us, as we continue to honor her memory through our actions, our kindness, and the love she so freely gave.
