Stanley W. Thompson

Stanley Wayne Thompson was born on December 18, 1955 in Columbus Ohio and departed on August 1, 2023. Stanley was born to parents James Herman Thompson Sr. and Gertrude Bishop Thompson.

Stanley was number six of seven children which include brother’s James Jr., Larry, Ronnie, and Glenn Thompson and sister’s Joanne Thompson and Mary Shannon. Stanley was the son of a military father. Often moving a lot which landed him in Boston where he got his Boston accent.

Stanley was the life of every party! Never knowing a stranger, Stanley’s goal was to put a smile on everyone’s face. Stanley would help anyone in need and was selfless with his time and money. Stanley was an excellent husband, provider, father, grandfather, and co-worker. Stanley’s favorite hobbies were weightlifting and karate and he could be found at the gym daily training other’s in both. Stanley’s most precious hobbies were spoiling his wife and assisting in raising his grandchildren. Stanley retired from Riverside Methodist Hospital and later went on to work for Lindsey Buick in Whitehall. Stanley was a member of Faith Ministries Church along with his wife.

Stanley leaves to cherish his memory: wife Janel Thompson, son’s Cameron, Lamar (Shir’Lee), and Chaz Thompson, daughter Sequala Harrell. Grandchildren Cameron Jr., Malakhy, Rreah, Caleb, Kamia, Lanielle, Lael, Levi, Chaz Jr. “CJ”, Christian, Andre, Arieona, Jazzane, Edward, Tristan, Special Niece, Tasshia Lee, sister Joanne Thompson, brother James Thompson Jr. Father-in-law Johnny Griffin Jr., Brother-in-law Johnny Griffin III (Sharon), sister-in-law Rayetta Barrett, Special friend’s Henry, and Laron “LA”, and countless family members, friends, and co-workers.

Stanley’s life will be remembered and honored during his home going service on August 19th, 2023 at 5456 E. Livingston Ave. Marlan J. Gary Funeral Home, The Chapel of Peace East. 9am Visitation, 10am Service.
Laid to rest at Eastlawn Cemetery. Repass will be held at 4428 Crossroads Center Columbus, OH 43232 from 12-3pm.
