Stewart Crumley Jr., a devoted husband, loving father, and esteemed Air Force veteran, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2023, in Columbus, Ohio. Born on December 25, 1942, in Johnson City, Tennessee, Stewart lived a life marked by steadfast dedication and a deep appreciation for the great outdoors.
Stewart’s journey began on Christmas Day, a fitting start for a man who would bring joy and warmth into the lives of those around him. He was a proud veteran, having served his country in the U.S. Air Force. It was during his time stationed at Rickenbacker Air Force Base in Columbus, Ohio, that he met the love of his life, Alta Crumley. Their love story unfolded into a remarkable 60 years of marriage, filled with unwavering commitment and cherished memories.
As a laborer in the electronics industry, Stewart displayed a strong work ethic and a remarkable skill set. Throughout his career, he worked for esteemed employers such as Gable Water Service, Dublin Pump, and Union Station 76, leaving a lasting impact on his colleagues with his expertise and professionalism.
While his dedication to his work was admirable, it was Stewart’s passion for the great outdoors that truly defined him. An avid fisherman and camper, he found solace and tranquility in nature. Whether it was casting his line in serene lakes or setting up camp under a starry sky, Stewart was in his element, embracing the serenity and beauty of the natural world.
Stewart’s loving spirit will forever live on through his children: son Randy Crumley, daughter Pamela Sue Elke, son Michael Wayne Crumley, and son Steven Anthony Crumley. Additionally, his cherished legacy extends to nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, who will continue to carry his memory forward.
As the community mourns his loss, friends and loved ones are invited to pay their respects at the forthcoming visitation to be held at The Marlan Gary Funeral Home, The Chapel of Peace East 5456 E. Livingston Ave. on Thursday January 4, 2024, from 2:00 – 3:00 pm.
Stewart Crumley Jr. touched the lives of all those who had the pleasure of knowing him. He will be remembered as a man of unwavering loyalty, a caring father, and a doting grandfather. His love for his wife, his dedication to his country, and his passion for the outdoors will forever be etched in our hearts.
