Terica Shawntell Brown

Terica (Sweetpea) Shawntell Brown finished life’s race on Saturday, October 9, 2021. Born November 7, 1973, in Mansfield, OH, to the late Darlene Brown and Grady Sambo Coffee, Sweetpea lived life to the fullest in the company of family and friends. She was known for showcasing her culinary skills, decorating and hosting parties to celebrate any occasion. In addition, Sweetpea loved listening to music, dancing, and reading books and magazines on cooking and decorating.   She was an author, in 2019 she shared her testimony in an anthology “Walking in Divine Favor”.

Sweetpea spent her childhood playing sports since middle school. She displayed great athleticism in football, being the first female player in the City of Mansfield, volleyball, and track, where she held schoolwide record titles in the shot put, 100-meter dash and the 4×100 relay team. In 1991, Terica graduated from Mansfield Senior High School. However, before her courageous health battle ended her studies, she found her love of cosmetology and attended North Central Technical College and Columbus State Community in Columbus, OH.

Raised in the church, Sweetpea confessed her faith at Alpha & Omega COGIC under the tutelage of the late Elder Henry L. Washington. Setting her spiritual foundation, she remained a member until the pastor’s retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Victoria Terica Shawntell Brown. Sweetpea will be deeply missed by her son, Eric Deion Crutcher, with whom she shared a permanent bond, and Antwan J. Horston, a nephew in whom she raised as her own.

She also leaves to cherish her memory, second mother, Lillie Coffee; brothers, Michael Lee Coffee and Jamel Coffee, both of Mansfield; sisters, Nicole (Antwan) Horston of Columbus, OH; Priscilla (Isha) and Monique (Pappy) Coffee, both of Mansfield and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends including special friend, Darnell Davis. In addition, Sweetpea was well-loved by so many more people, too numerous to list but treasured.
