All former things have passed away, In this land of perfect day,
Old Christians never die, they just sleep away.

Minister Thelma Beatrice Watson Jones was born July 6, 1924, in Greensboro, North Carolina. She transitioned to her heavenly home on March 14, 2022, at the blessed age of 97.

Thelma graduated in 1942 from McDowell County schools, Kimball Negro High School in North Carolina. She was a licensed nurse for years at OSU hospital, the Neighborhood House, and Ecco/Eastside Family Health Center.

Thelma loved the Lord with all her heart, and she let her light shine. One of her favorite past times was singing gospel music and giving God praise. She was a member of Bible-Way Church of our Lord Jesus Christ and St. James Christian Center until her health would no longer allow her to attend. Thelma became a licensed minister on her birthday, July 6, 2006. Thelma never had children of her own, but she loved children and gave her heart to many youngsters.

Preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Willie Watson; brother: Edward; sisters: Mildred Watson and Willa Mae Clayton; Aunt: Naomi Whites; niece: Dana O’Garra, husband: James Mayo.

Survived by Althea O’Garra, Patricia (Alphonse) Williams, Goddaughter: Jo Ann Betton; extended family and friends.
