Theresa Ferguson

Athletic, funny, and loved by countless friends and family, Theresa (Diggs) Ferguson slipped into her heavenly rest February 14, 2022. Born on Mother’s Day, May 8, 1966, in Columbus, Ohio, she was the youngest born to Andrew J. Diggs, Sr. (deceased) and Roslyn Diggs. She married Todd Alan Ferguson, Sr. (deceased) and through their union they had three beautiful children: Todd Alan II ‘TJ”, Taisha, and Tyus.

Highly decorated, Theresa honed her athletic talents as a track and field star at Bishop Hartley High School (BHHS, 84). Coached by her cousin, Solomon Espie, and Coach Jeri Price, while at Hartley, Theresa was all-state and appears on the BHHS wall of athletes for her athletic accomplishments. Holding numerous high school track and field records, in 1984 she was named the Citizen Journal Track Person of the Year. In 2018, she was inducted into the BHHS Athletics Hall of Fame as part of the inaugural class of inductees; later she was inducted into the OHSAA Hall of Fame. At The Ohio State University (88), Theresa was contributing member and three-time Big 10 Champ of the track team. With her track acumen, she coached numerous budding high school athletes across Central Ohio, including Columbus Academy, Groveport-Madison High School, and Bishop Hartley.

Employed by Franklin County for more than 25 years, she was a case worker and a trainer in the human resources department. Many participants commented that she loved what she did and always brought her sense of humor to each training.

Once Theresa gave her life to Christ, she immersed herself in praise and worship and became a member of the dance ministry at All Nations Church, ultimately serving as its leader. In serving, she touched many lives. She, Todd and the three kids were an integral part of the All Nations Church family.

She leaves to cherish her memory, mother, Roslyn F. Diggs; children, Todd Alan, Taisha, and Tyus Ferguson; siblings Melanie (Dan) Houston, Franklin (Julie) Diggs, Michele Henderson, and Andrew Diggs, Jr.; three precious grandsons, Jace and Rylen Reid, and Terrence Rainey; sister-in-law Terri Ferguson; Aunts Annie (Bob) Barnard and Laura (Elmer) Blackburne; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews; best friend, Felicia Francis, and cherished friend, Verdina Roddy.

Theresa loved playing with her grandsons and doing whatever they convinced her to do. Her favorite pastimes included reading and watching television while twirling her hair. Above all, she loved to laugh and make others laugh. One of the last things Theresa shared with her sister Melanie was her desire for all three of her children and grandchildren to give their lives to Christ. Theresa shared that she had visions of her children and grandchildren serving in different ministries.
