Timothy Lee Washington Sr.

Timothy Lee Washington, Sr.

Timothy Lee Washington, Sr. was born in Newark, Ohio on May 30, 1934 as the first son, and the fourth child, of Mr. and Mrs.   Ethel Mae Love and Nelson Washington.  He cherished his   three elder sisters, Lucille, Renelda and Delores,   and spoke of them with deep affection throughout his life.

Following his education in the Columbus, Ohio public schools, Timothy married Elizabeth Jackson.  They had two children: daughter Valora and son Timothy Lee Washington, Jr.

In 1962 he married Lenora Preston with whom he shared his life until her death in April 2015. Together they raised three sons:  Anthony, Michael and Tyrone.

One would not have to know Timothy Washington very long before hearing him state repeatedly:  “I’m sentimental about my family.”  Family was the cornerstone and purpose of his life.

Timothy’s passions were clear and long-standing.  He enjoyed fishing, a past time he acquired from his parents and that he passed down to his own sons.   Planting a vegetable garden each year and enjoying the fruits of that labor were also activities in which he found great pleasure.   On weekends he watched various sports events on television and relished continuous visits from relatives and friends.  His generous and fun-loving personality created an atmosphere that encouraged everyone to feel welcome.

Timothy was a consistent and dedicated employee.  Following decades of service, Timothy retired with the United States Railroad Retirement Board.

Timothy is preceded in death by his wife, Lenora; two sisters, Lucille and Renelda; two sons, Timothy and Anthony; and grandson Markio.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Valora; two sons Michael and Tyrone; six grandsons, Omari, Anthony Jr, Timothy III,  Antoine , Justin,   and Tezmeuan;   six granddaughters , Amara, Felicia, Darnetta,  Kamilah,  Aleiah,  Makayla; 15 great grandchildren;  and a host of other relatives and friends.  Visitation 10:00am and Funeral 11:00am Monday January 11, 2016 at MARLAN J.
