Trena Booker

Trena Michelle Booker was born December 10, 1957 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Barbara Ellen Ransom and Charles Robert Johnson.

Trena was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 4, 2019 peacefully at home following a brief illness.

Trena grew up in Zanesville but moved to Columbus in 1983 with her daughters Angela and Terra, and the love of her life Freeman Booker Jr. in reach for a better life for her and her family. Trena earned her GED in 1988 and obtained employment with ODTFS as a claims examiner, a position she enjoyed for over 25 years helping others until she retired in 2009.

Trena accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized on September 6, 1997 by Bishop Timothy J. Clarke and later rededicated her life to God under the leadership of Pastor Lance Humphrey on October 3, 2006 and received full membership of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member of the nurse and missionary ministry .

Trena loved her family, friends, pastor, first lady, and her Mt. Zion family so much, even while she was ill she attended services escorted by her grandson Aja faithfully.

Trena is preceded in death by parents Barbara Ransom Hayes Wiggins, and Charles R. Johnson, husband Freeman Booker Jr., daughter Terra Dawn Ransom, brother Chauncey Dean Tables, sister Shelvie L. Hayes, and nephew Teqwan Wiggins.

Trena leaves behind to cherish her memories; daughter Angela (Antonio) Pope-Hancock, grandchildren Derrick, Aja, and Khyra, great grandchildren Donovan and Dilyan, sisters Carmel Wiggins Newby, Jacqueline Casimino, and Sandra Kennedy, long time friends Vicki Ensley, Chris Marcum, Shauna McCrary, Shannon Martin and mom Sarah Bobbitt.

To Aja, you have been an amazing grandson and a blessed young man. Continue to let God use you because you have work to finish. I love you all forever and always more.

Now send me on my way Pastor Humphrey, and thank you so much for always being there for me. I love you all and there’s nothing you can do about it.

I have went home to see Jesus and those streets that are paved with gold, my many mansions and my family, I love you all forever, yours truly Trena Michelle Booker!

Visitation 9:00am and Funeral 10:00am Saturday, June 8, 2019 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 1535 Dewey Ave.

Interment at Glen Rest Memorial Estates.
