Ulysess S. Austin Jr.

We were blessed to celebrate Mr. USA’s 95th birthday on May 18th. He went to paradise on June 11, 2019. USA was born in West Virginia, and later moved to Columbus, Ohio. He was married to his loving wife Peggie Austin for 37 years. He retired from the Federal Government (DCSC) after 37 years of service. He served in the US Army. His bravery during WWII earned him several medals and ribbons, including The Purple Heart, Bronze Star Combat Infantry and Victory Medal WWII.

Dad loved sports especially baseball and football. He loved to dance even in his wheelchair. His kind soft speaking voice touched everyone’s heart, with his words of wisdom. Many consider him to be their mentor and a father figure. Many people asked him what his secret was to longevity and no wrinkles. His famous words were,” Don’t worry about nothing you can’t change”.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ulysses and Carolyn Austin; wife, Peggie Austin; sons, Tyrone, Eugene, Spencer, and Douglas.
