Usimare Piankhy Haynes affectionately known as “Usi” was born on December 12, 1975 in Manhattan, New York to Janet L. Richardson and Milton L. Haynes. He was the youngest of four siblings.
Later his family moved to Bellwood, Illinois where he graduated with honors from St. Simeon Elementary & Proviso West High School. Usi was a brilliant man with great humility. Education was very important to him. He graduated Magnum Cum Laude from Prairie View A&M University located in Prairie View, Texas with a B.A. degree in Electrical Engineering as well as later obtaining a B.A. degree in Computer Science from Franklin University in Columbus, Ohio.
Usi had an impeccable work ethic and he was most inspired about entrepreneurship. His entrepreneurial spirit is what led him to become a Real Estate Agent and later to become a Broker. He also was a self-taught General Contractor who operated his own business named, “The Home Improvers.”
Usi loved spending time with his family. Taking the kids to the park, going on bike rides and taking vacations were a few of the things he enjoyed doing. He also had many interests and hobbies such as coaching youth basketball, mentoring, reading, watching documentaries and listening to NPR. Exercising and eating healthy was very important to him.
As a teenager Usi accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Most recently he joined Second Baptist Church under Pastor Washington. He was a respectable man who was giving, loving, understanding, kind, and honest. He will be best remembered as a loving family member, a loyal friend, an endearing brother, an awesome son, a devoted husband, and an outstanding father. To know him was to love him!
On Friday, January 2, 2015 at 12:27 a.m. he was called home after a short battle with a rare kidney cancer. He is survived by his wife, Johanna Haynes; his five children: Devoncil, Sekie, Naparaye, Khepri and Safiya; his mother, Janet Richardson and father, Milton (Marsha) Haynes, grandmother Dorothy Bennett, grandfather Milton (Opal) Haynes, brother Armon Haynes, Sr., four sisters: Melony (Bobby) Kersh, Maysha (Verron) Barmore, Jade Haynes and Jada Haynes, three nephews: Armon Jr., Charles and Cameron, five nieces: Kayla, Adia, Imara, Niazeria and NahJae; along with a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandmother Vickie Haynes and grandfathers Charles Wallace and Kelly Bennett.
Visitation 10:00am and Funeral 11:00am Friday January 9, 2015 at Second Baptist Church 186 N. 17th St. Interment at Union Cemetery.
