Vaughn A. Stinson

Vaughn A. Stinson, was born in Columbus, Ohio, August 26, 1947 to Eugene and Mildred Stinson. He was the middle child between two siblings, Ronald Eugene and Teri Lynnette. Vaughn was a product of the Columbus Public Schools graduating from East High School. He excelled and graduated at the tender age of 16 years of age. Off to Central State he went and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.

Vaughn enjoyed a fulfilling career in his chosen career path with many of those years with the Ford Motor Company. During his tenure he forged many friendships, earned several promotions, traveled to Japan to develop and create transmissions as well as handled multi-million dollar projects. He was industrious from his childhood, earning money from his paper route. He was like the mailman – Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.

Being raised in the church, he was the first acolyte at Union Grove Baptist where he was active in the choir, children’s and youth fellowships and the Boy Scouts. Growing up, Vaughn was always helpful to his parents and grandmothers. He continued being a loyal and faithful son by taking on the responsibility of being his mother’s caretaker for nearly 10 years.

Vaughn married Joann Hagwood and from this union two children were born – Malone and Abiona. He took his responsibilities as a father seriously providing his children with enrichment opportunities and financial stability. He loved his son and daughter and was proud of how they developed into responsible adults.
Vaughn was self-confident and was willing to take risks. After retiring, he moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas, where he began constructing a new life, making new friends and settling into a new community. His love of horse racing was a deciding factor in moving to Hot Springs where he was able to indulge in what he fondly referred to as his second job. He loved to play cards and show off Hot Springs to visiting friends and family.

Celebrating his life are his adult children, Malone (Mindy) Stinson; Abiona (Rodric) Harper; brother, Ronald; sister, Teri; grandchildren – Khalin (Renata) Stinson, Derek Lewis Stinson, Joelle Lalla, Rodric II Harper, Ezra Harper, great-grandchildren, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.

A Derby Style Memorial Service will be held at 11:30am Saturday May 5, 2018 at The Hampton Inn, Eldorado Scioto Downs 5950 S High St 43137.
