Wallace Thompson, an avid baseball enthusiast and devoted fan of the Cleveland Guardians and The Cleveland Browns, took his final breath on June 20, 2024, at Winchester Terrace in Mansfield, OH. Born on March 5, 1942, in Canton, MS, he had a fulfilling life that touched the hearts of many. Wallace was a retired laborer from Mansfield Plating after a dedicated career and was a graduate of Mansfield Senior High School where he cultivated lifelong friendships.


A member of the Church of Christ in Mansfield, Wallace found solace and community within his faith. He spent his free time watching, playing, and refereeing baseball, immersing himself in the sport he cherished deeply. Wallace was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, survived by his five children: Sonya (Angelo) Piersoll, Mark Williams, Tamla Hawkins, Rodney Haynes, and Tia (Larry II) Stephens. His legacy lives on through his 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, who will always remember his wisdom and love. He is also survived by his loving sisters Brenda Lindsay and Daisy Dudley and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.


Wallace will be dearly missed by all who knew him. He is preceded in death by his wife, Deborah Thompson, parents, Ulysses and Lucille Thompson, son, Donald Williams, two brothers, Willie and Andrew Thompson and a sister, Ada (JC) Walker but his memory lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. 


A celebration of Wallace Thompson's life will be held in his honor at the Chapel of Peace Mansfield, 753 McPherson St. Visitation 10am and Memorial service 11am on Saturday July 13, 2024, The memorial services will be a time to reminisce on the joyous moments shared with Wallace and to celebrate the impact he had on all who knew him.
