Walter Russell Hagwood, Age 76, of Columbus, Ohio went home to be with the Lord onAugust 6, 2024. Born in Pageton, West Virginia in McDowell County on April 2, 1948, to Noah and Janie Hagwood.
He graduated from Gary High School in Gary, West Virginia. Retired from the City of Columbus as a supervisor after 40 plus years. Walter was very charming, sociable, family oriented, headstrong and with an outgoing personality, “a standup guy”. He loved to joke and make people smile. He was a very loving brother to all his family especially his two sisters.
Walter was always there for anybody to help and support. He enjoyed traveling, gambling, concerts, and cookouts. He loved watching all football games and Ohio State University sports. He also loved watching his great-grandson, Legend practicing football.
Walter had an unforgettable impact on the lives of his family. He is preceded in death by his father, Noah; and Mother, Janie Hagwood; brothers, James, Willie Eugene, Harry, Levi, Jackie, David, and Johnie Hagwood; grandson, Matthew Keyes and Cousin Johnnie Joyce.
Survived by sisters, Louise Hagwood and Mary Hall; brothers; Thomas and Robert (Earline) Hagwood; children, Javon (Javonna) Brown, Aretha Nevarez, Jeness (Jonathan) Collins, Janee Munmerlyn, Brian (Christy) Hall. A host of grant and great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, cousins, family friends and neighbors.
