Wayne Allen Palmer passed away peacefully February 9, 2025 with the love of his family surrounding him. Wayne was born August 4, 1944 in Lee County, North Carolina to James and Maggie Doris Palmer. 

 

Wayne served in the United States Army. He was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington, trained at the US Army Quartermaster School in Fort Lee, Virginia afterwards being assigned Overseas he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal 2 Overseas bars, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal. He later began working for the Defense Intelligence Agency serving over 32 years.

 

After retirement Wayne enjoyed traveling, spending time with friends and family. During the last 5 years of his life Wayne became the neighborhood legend where his garage became the meeting spot. He never met a stranger, he was loved by many, a great friend to all, enjoyed dancing, giving treats to the neighborhood pets, and telling his war stories.

 

He is preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Palmer, father, James O. Palmer, Jr., mother, Maggie Doris Palmer, brothers, Norman O. Palmer, Oscar S. Palmer, sister, Wilma A. Cameron.

 

He leaves to cherish his memories, 3 sons, Wayne A. Palmer, Jr., George A. Palmer, Duane A. Palmer and his Princess LaTanya Palmer; the apple of his eye, Dasjah, and papa’s boy, Gio; Cherie Smith, Aaron, Jason, Alex, Dani; sisters, Wanda F. McLean (Lacy); Reba J. Ray; brother, James E. Palmer (Julia); a host of other grandsons, granddaughters, nephews, nieces, and friends.
