William Howell Hunter, Sr.

William H. Hunter, Sr., was born on September 22, 1936 and departed this life on Saturday, November 5, 2022. He was affectionately known by many by his nickname “Jody”. He was a graduate of Mansfield Senior High School where he ran track. He was taught the craft of Plastering by his Uncle George Hayes, Sr. He worked with him and became a self employed accomplished plasterer. He later became employed at General Motors Corp from which he retired. He was a former member of the Temple of Faith Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Pastor Louis G Maddox. There he served as a minister, Sunday School Superintendent and choir member. At that time he was a very skilled singer and soloist  and was often told he sounded similar to Sam Cooke. One of those songs he enjoyed singing was “The Love of God by James Cleveland. He enjoyed fishing and boating out on the lake. He owned two boats and loved driving his Convertible Cadillac. He was a skilled billiards player and loved to dress in suits and hats.
