William “Marc” Henry Earthman

William Henry Earthman, also known as Marc, left this world on December 1, 2023, peacefully passing away at Riverside Hospital. Born on January 8, 1964, in Columbus, Ohio, Marc lived a vibrant and fulfilling life, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love and laughter.

Marc’s journey began as he proudly served in the U.S. Navy, dedicating nearly two decades of his life to safeguarding our nation. As a disabled veteran, he exemplified resilience and commitment in the face of adversity. Though Marc may no longer be with us, his spirit lives on through his family who meant the world to him. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sherri Earthman; who stood by his side through thick and thin. Marc was a devoted father to his children, Marquetta (Armon) Hayes, Wayne Cedric (China) Hamler, and Nikita (Antwain) Reedus, and a loving grandfather to his seven grandchildren, Armon III, Malajua, Jhakai, Amauri, Arielle, Arionna, and Kyra.

Marc also leaves behind his parents, Missionary Sandra Hemphill and Elder Lewis Hemphill Sr., who instilled in him values of faith, compassion, and resilience. He shared a special bond with his siblings, Tammy (Tim) Lemon, Lolita (Charles) Brown, Lasonya (Juwell) Rollins, Latunia Hemphill, Latricia Speede, Princess (Eric) McMillan, Pastor Lewis (Dana) Hemphill Jr., Lavana Hemphill, Zania White and Tracy Collins and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and in-laws. He also leaves to cherish his memory, Jacqueline Mayo Johnson, Lacy Earthman, Dale Earthman, Kim Caldwell, Kimberly Ford. He cherished every moment spent with them and showered them with affection.

Mark was preceded in death by his father, William Earthman; maternal grandparents, Louise Carter and Willard Mayo; paternal grandparents, William and Rosa Earthman; first cousin, Todd Johnson; aunt, Christine Price; and uncles, Dwight Mayo, Tony, Robert, Eddie, Paul, and Harold.

Those who knew Marc recognized his playful and jovial nature. He had a knack for making people laugh, as evidenced by his love for telling jokes and his unwavering smile. His generosity knew no bounds, and he would often lend a helping hand to those in need. More than anything, Marc loved spending time with his family. He loved to laugh and make others laugh. He was truly a jokester. Marc loved to play cards and win all the money from those brave enough to compete against him. He also loved to play backgammon.

Marc had a special group of family he enjoyed spending time with. They traveled together, ate Sunday dinners together and celebrated special occasions together. Those are George Easley, Brandi Scott, James Curry, Kelly (Jonathan) Jones, Jarrell Howell, Rassaun Johnson, April Franklin, Rochelle Davis, Terrance (Charlotte) Hamler, Stacy (Mark) Harris, Barbara Hines, John Harris, Boo Harris, Michael Mayo, Dwight Mayo, Veronica (Anthony) Jackson, Gwendolyn (Clayton) Carr, Corenda Burton, Mondell (Reggie) Lipscomb and John Robinson Jr. There were a host of other very special individuals as well!

Marc’s other family was those he spent countless hours with at The Browns Barbershop. He loved Veronica, Calvin and Stephanie.

Marc served several years in the US Navy with a special friend, Travis Stanfield.
