William Ross Sr

Elder William Ross Sr., age 83, beloved Husband, Father, and Brother, was called to his eternal resting place on July 31, 2017. He entered this world on October 26, 1933 in Jeddo, OH, born to Leonard and Mattie Ross.

He attended Steubenville City Schools, and was a 1952 graduate of Steubenville Big Red, where he was a legend in the sport of basketball. He attended Oregon State College, and then served in the U.S. Army. He was employed by Ohio Edison for 25 years where he retired in 1992. He married the love of his life, Loralei Herndon in 1957. To this union was born 4 children.

He was ordained by the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, and served as Pastor for New Hope Fellowship in Steubenville, Ohio. After his retirement from New Hope he relocated to Columbus Ohio and became an associate minister at Grace Apostolic Church where Bishop James W. Gaiters is Pastor.

He was an avid fisherman and loved to go fishing with his sons. Anyone that knew him loved him and his infectious smile, as he was a loving father-figure to many.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 yrs, Loralei Ross; sons, William “Billy” Ross Jr, Keith (Leonette) Murray, John (Sharon) Ross, and Michael (Joyette) Ross; daughters, Terra (William) Ross-Manns and Maude Bougard, extended sons, Brian (Kim) Porter and LT (Valerie) Battle; brother, James (Darlene) Ross; sister, Alice Gilbert; 26 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 6 foster children, numerous extended children, grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation 11:00am, Funeral 12:00pm Wednesday August 9, 2017 at Grace Apostolic Church, 1743 E Lakeview Ave, with Bishop James W. Gaiters officiating.
